I started my novel in first person and went back last night to the first chapter and realised that as easy as it is to write in first person I didn't enjoy my personal brand of it. Admittedly it was the first draft so finessing was going to be called for anyway but I just didn't feel the love. So even though I am half way through chapter three I have started re-writing chapter one in a more standard point of view and am thrilled with the results so far.
It does however call for a massive rewrite and rethinking of how to introduce facts into the story. But I think it will have a better end result than the previous attempt.
