Week two means assignment two, had no idea what to expect and was well surprised. ;) Senses are tricky and it is easy to overtly describe them. This is what I cam up with and it might not be absolutely successful but by the end this is what I felt worked best. For me ;)
Correct or wrong it is all about the learning experience. :)
Part One
1. Charli woke to a commingling wall of sour and pine. Smell
2. Pine needles pressed into her spine through the thin sleeping bag Touch
3. Gut roiling she dropped down into a crouch. Unknown
4. His aftershave was bitter up close, and made her tongue numb. Taste
5. Intricate ceiling tiles occupied her time while waiting for the MRI to start. Sight
6. The MRI jarred her out of any peace she sought from the music. Sound
7. The MRI brought an unexpected fear, she tried to imagine open skies above her. Space
8. Blissfully ignorant Darren didn’t hurry through the process. Time
Part Two
Every time she tried the meditation the MRI jarred it right out of her. Eternity seemed an easy proposition after having experienced the medical wing. Even the intricate ceiling tiles only held her attention for a short time. Closing her eyes she concentrated on other things. Crisp cotton sheets cool beneath her hands, and snatches of music in between the roar of the MRI. Darren’s aftershave mingling with the oily metal of the MRI made her nauseous. She tried but couldn’t even anticipate the changes from the machine. She tried to imagine wide open spaces, for the machine had brought out an unexpected fear in her.
Part Three
It cast a shower of kindly golden dust on the untidy nurses and decrepit old men who drowsed on the benches; it flickered upon all the moving figures -- on the children who ran screaming along the gravel paths and on everyone who passed through the gardens. (Sight, sound, space, time)
He chose the darkest and narrowest streets and, as he walked boldly forward, the silence that was spread about his footsteps troubled him, the wandering, silent figures troubled him; and at times a sound of low fugitive laughter made him tremble like a leaf. (Unknown)
They clinked glasses and drank the toast. (Touch, taste)
Three small whiskies had gone to his head and Gallaher’s strong cigar had confused his mind, for he was a delicate and abstinent person. (Smell)
